At this point Micheal. Kobe needs to stack up another finals mvp and another ring before I can make any sort of comparison.

Right now Jordan. I think Jordan would have done better on the LA teams then Kobe would have on the Chicago teams

I don't think Kobe needs to win another Finals MVP.. I think he actually has to have ONE Finals MVP-like performance...
which he has never had....

I dont even compare the 2. As far as Im concerned Magic is still the #1 Laker and Jordan is the #1 of all time . Really no contest there.

It's not a good topic right now because Kobe is still playing, they come from 2 very different eras, faced different teams in the Finals, and bump will create any dumb ass argument and say anything, no matter how untrue, just to detract from what's been a great career for Kobe Bryant.

I disagree. In this given age of freakish athletes and so forth I think its tougher in the NBA nowadays then it was when Jordan played . Jordan had better teammaess also then what Kobe has had.

kobe can win 10 more, he will never be better than Jordan and it not even close! Why do you even need a poll?

all i can do is laugh. NBA nowadays is complete shit! Not 1 team from this era could even fuck with a team from jordan, magic/bird era!!! In fact I would take Duncan over Kobe!

REP BRAH!
But for comparizon'z sake, still think an argument can be made for Kobe or DWade....same position, same era, and Wade's past few years have been very similar to Kobe's 05-07 Laker teams when a great player was playing God (sry Hill) on a garbage team.

some people forget that Michael Jordan had some great players on his Bulls teams, & another Hall of Famer named Scottie Pippen, who is one of my all time favorite players. Jordan is an icon larger than any other in sports history. IMO, no matter how great anyone else is, they will never be Michael Jordan. Jordan changed the game of basketball. Kobe is still playing, he could get more rings, but Jordan never lost an NBA finals series. Kobe has lost 2 finals series. But I'll take Kobe in the clutch over Jordan. And I'll take Kobe's shooting over Jordan's. Jordan is the greatest ever tho

Jordan also dominated in an era when the NBA played some hard azz defense. Remember the defenses Jordan went up against....The Pistons, Knicks, Pacers, Celtics of the late 80's....and great all around teams like Wilkins Hawks, Drexlers Blazers, the Malone/Stockton Jazz, Barkley's Suns....ect. Jordan also defeated a great Lakers team, led by Magic Johnson in the NBA finals Tor, so GOI.

A Great Laker team?
That Laker team was decent at best, not great. No Cap. No Micheal Cooper, no Micheal Thompson, No Kurt Rambis.
Did the NBA allow more hands-on D? Sure. But at the same time, nobody played zone nor was there any complexion that you see nowadays. Players had more free will to isolate you..

Asking someone from NorCal for an opinion on this might as well be asking Bump.

Right... because asking somebody from SoCal, AND a Laker fan is any less biased.

Well, he did snitch on Shaq like a fuckin pussy....
And he wanted Shaq out of LA like a fuckin bitch..
If it looks like a bitch and it smells like a bitch.......... it must be a bitch!

Michael Jordan best NBA player ever.
Magic Johnson best Laker player ever.
Kobe Bryant best NBA player today.
Huge difference between Kobe and Jordan. Kobe is a great player, but not in Jordan's class right now; Jordan transcends basketball, he's one of the greatest athletes in all of sports...ever.

Nah, that Laker team was far from the Showtime of decades. Magic's best days were behind him, and as you stated, we didn't have a prescence down low. Perkins was a 3-point shooter, soft.
Good point about the zone defense, too. Zones were't legalized until Shaq became unstoppable.
Also, if you were too young to see Magic in his prime then don't bother to reply. Magic is still the best all-around player the NBA has ever had.

Was I the only one who remembered Shaq refusing to lose weight, and demanding his right to wait until the season started to get surgery because he'd be on "company time?" Am I the only one who remembers a slow, overweight, Shaq lugging his way up the court in the 2004 Finals and getting bitchslapped by Ben Wallace?
Of course Kobe didn't want to play with him anymore. Shaq remaining with the Lakers would have been a disaster. He only lost the weight because he had a chip on his shoulder in Miami.

There is no fucking way you can ever come close to proving that....
"He met with me at the Four Seasons Hotel here [in Newport Beach, Calif.] across from Fashion Island, which is now the Island Hotel," Bryant told Smith. "I went up to his penthouse suite. [Buss] looks me dead in the face and says: 'Kobe, I am not going to re-sign Shaq. I am not about to pay him $30 million a year or $80 million over three years. No way in hell. I feel like he's getting older. His body is breaking down, and I don't want to pay that money to him when I can get value for him right now rather than wait.
"This is my decision. It's independent of you. My mind is made up. It doesn't matter to me what you do in free agency because I do not want to pay [Shaq], period.'"
"Dr. Buss said that," Bryant told Smith. "And I haven't said anything for years because I've always felt like folks were just looking to create controversy. Now I know. I realize what extent [the Lakers] will go to, to cover themselves."
Reached afterward, O'Neal told Smith that he believed his former teammate to be beyond reproach.
"I believe Kobe 100 percent," O'Neal said when reached in Los Angeles. "Absolutely. There's no doubt in my mind Kobe is telling the truth. I believe him a thousand percent.
"I would have respected Dr. Buss more as a man if he would have told me that himself, because I know he said it. But he didn't [tell me]. He never said a damn word to me."

Kobe's had bad luck in terms of a time to shine in the Finals. He played great vs. Indiana but the Lakers played nothing even close to a team that decent in the next 2 series. He played great vs. Orlando but they're an unexciting team. He shot horribly vs. Boston, but that series was a defensive struggle and Kobe's D was outstanding. The aggregate of his Finals competition is nowhere near that of Jordan's, but last year's Celtics were better than any team Jordan ever faced.

I agree. Defenses in the NBA were way more physical back then.Teams like the 90s pistons would have their whole team ejected if they tryed to play that way today. The rules have changed and they dont allow stuff like handchecking anymore.
Kobe isnt even the best player in the post-Jordan era. Duncan and Shaq in their primes were more dominant than kobe.

Nobody past or present compares to Michael Jordan, he's the man. This comment is coming from a Pacers fan, I hate the Bulls but not Jordan.
