Browns Bailing on Crabtree?
Posted by Mike Florio on April 22, 2009, 11:51 a.m. EDT
As recently as last week, the Browns had a Milk Bone in their pockets for Texas Tech receiver Michael Crabtree.
Now? Not.
According to Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Browns “have all but crossed off” Crabtree from the draft board.
The problem apparently arose from his visit to Cleveland last week, during which he allegedly brought a “diva attitude” to the Dawg Pound, and that didn’t sit well with a head coach who likes to snub players when he sees them at offseason functions. Allegedly.
Grossi writes that, after Crabtree left, the team lined up eleventh-hour workouts with Hakeem Nicks of North Carolina, Kenny Britt of Rutgers, and Mohamed Massaquoi of Georgia — one or more of whom could be available when the Browns pick in round two.
Are we surprised? Hell no. As we pointed out yesterday, Crabtree’s insistence that he could run a sub-4.4 while injured when he can’t run a sub-4.5 while healthy makes us wonder whether he gets it.
Lost in all this fuss about Crabtree is the reality that the signs are pointing even more strongly to the Browns trading receiver Braylon Edwards.
Of course, there’s a chance that the Browns have opted to bad mouth Crabtree in the hopes of ensuring that no one leap frogs them at No. 5 to get him.
If that’s the case, they’d better be sure that Crabtree is in on the ruse

Meh, don't really think this is too big a deal. The misinformation teams float around regarding players is insane.
He's still atop my wish list.
It's all a big joke at this point. In all the interviews on the kid he's a very humble and thankful character. I think this stuff is hilarious.

It happens every year at this time. Certain players ride the hype train to unwarranted selections, and other players who did nothing but dominate in college are all of a sudden useless.
Look at the draft's latest Golden Boy, Mark Sanchez. Teams are all hot and bothered over him, but let's say Bradford, McCoy and Tebow all came out this year as well......Sanchez would probably be a 2nd round pick because those guys would be getting showered with praise.
On the flipside, someone like Andre Smith pretty much manhandled every pass rusher and run-stuffer he faced in his SEC career, but now he's a surefire bust because of his...well....BUST....his man-tits? Doesn't make sense.

absolutely..
Sanchez made a hella smart descision coming out this year. He only had 16 games, but knew his chances of going high this year were way better than they would be next year, regardless.
Andre Smith will be the best OT out of this draft class, guarunteed. He's basically the Crabtree of the tackles imo, but you woludnt know that reading the hype...
Why do they even do this dumb shit???
Seriously, why?
Browns are taking Crabtree.

No but Andre Smiths deficincies are well documented and cannot be refuted..
1 - he was in horrible shape and bailed on the combine.
2 - He looked like a clean shaven E-40 badly in need of a maternity bra during his pro day.
3 - He has known to have serious weight issues, hitting as high as 360. This combined with the reputation he has as a vicious run blocker who has mauling strength is a serious doubt to me... He is 330+ and cant even bench 225lbs 19 times....
Pretty sad.

ITs all a smokescreen!!! :puff::puff::puff:

Bradford, McCoy and Tebow don't have NFL tools like Sanchez.
