View Full Version : WDR Claims that the Raiders will take Darrius Heyward-Bey at no.7

I have learned this is what he posted in "premium" at RF:
Alright folks...
Here is who the Raiders are planning on taking with the 7th pick in the draft... they do not plan on trading down for him...
Obviously, ANYTHING can change, but as of right now, this is what they are looking and I must say, pretty firm about.
Darrius Heyward-Bey
I also am aware of who they are targeting with their 2nd and 3rd round picks, but I will not release those until just prior to the selections.
Hopefully he is wrong like usual.

That is disgusting. We could easily trade down, acquire more picks, and take him later in the round.

Its not that Bey is a bad player, it is just too high for him.
LOL @ "Obviously ANYTHING can change"
Yep, especially when you are dealing with a cat who is shooting off out of his asshole and doesn't have the inside track on a god damned thing.
WDR can probably tell you the next thing Vic is going to write about on SB Report...
But he definitely can't tell you shit about the internal musings of Raiders HQ.

Exactly no way Raiders take dude that high.
That being said I think it is way overrated for people to say it is too high of a pick for this or that player. If dude can play who gives a sh*t when he is selected.

Booby Miles is a BEAST! And he has past injuries...so we will definitely give him a huge contract with an injury clause.

Aren't those 2 completely contradicting statements? There's no way they take him that high, but it shouldn't matter how high you take a player?
The important part is the last sentence. Does anyone know if DHB can play? Does anyone know if anyone will be able to play at the pro level? Right now all he is is a project.

The teams and analysts still adhere to the fact that players should be taken no higher than where they label a player. If a player is labeled as a 2nd round guy and a team takes him in the 1st they are reaching.
Kind of what Titans did with chris johnson last year. Everyone siad it was too high, but dude turned out to be a player. Just because I say it shouldn't matter where a player is selected does not mean the league now will do what I say.

Exactly no way do the Raiders reach that far, but DHB could be better than those projected higher than him.
They probably just speculating based on Al's infatuation with speed guys.
JRaider17
04-18-2009, 08:43 AM
I'm not saying DHB isn't good or won't be... its just a HUGE reach.
It will be Andre Smith or Michael Oher, whichever is available, in that order.
The only thing that might give credence to DHB, is that he and Loadholt (2nd rnd OT) have both been worked out in Oakland. That doesnt make it true DHB is being drafted, because for instance, we worked out Trent Edwards and other players a couple years ago, when weighing up which order to take certain positions, so id say that right now the Raiders are weighing up taking an OT first and WR second, or WR first and OT second.
That is disgusting. We could easily trade down, acquire more picks, and take him later in the round.
we may be unable to trade down. depends on what happens with Mark Sanchez. Teams are not eager to trade up and pay out
If DHB is the pick which I doubt it is, we better trade down with Washington or something then get him

I hope you are right. I see Maclin's name being thrown around alot.
-we will not draft an OL simply for the fact we have addressed the position considerably in FA.
We haven't done shit for the WR corp.
Our OL was in better shape than out pathetic WR corps.
3 things will happen.
1 - Crabtree
2 - Orakpo or Raji if Crabtree is gone
3 - trade down and DHB because DHB is an Al pick.
Bump, we are taking a tackle and then a WR in the second. This is still a rebuild year.

I agree.. I fell it is better to actually have scouts moniter these players while they are still playing in college. Nobody will have the player analized better than your scout has been keeping track.. Just my two cents

Crabtree or Raji.... don't pick DHB at 7 though, fuck thatt
Don, dont put too much stock into us drafting an OT simply because a few quips from Cable came out regarding his hard on for some of these tackles.
Im def not buying it

Crabtree will be off the board at #7....
Im really not sold on Maclin, as much as I want a WR I wouldnt oppose a Defensive pick at #7
But Al gets what Al wants. If he wants DHB I wouldnt be surprised one bit. This is the same guy that drafted a Kicker in the 1st round and thinks that speed is everything.

The last thing I will say on this, the Maclin pick would make no sense with the immergence of Mr. Higgins.
The DHB pick would only make sense if there were no other viable options at #7 and we traded down to take him.

IT aint the quips, pimp. Its the fact that Henderson is still a big ?? who needs hella help chipping, Barnes will lock down right side when all is said and done, and Pears will make a decent swing backup. We need a FRANCHISE tackle, not a one year FA or an Al Davis scholarship tackle..

My bad, I know smith is good and I would not mind this pick, as Smith was a potential 1st overall pick until his combine debacle. Smith is one, as is Raji, of the potential studs that could fall to the Raiders cuz of character issues.
He does have big a$$ titties tho:beer:

What a joke. It continues to be hilarious that people fall for this farce and hang off his every word. And like Bump said, LOL @ obviously anything can happen....yeah, way to rid yourself of accountability. He can throw this shit out there and if it happens he's a prophet, if it doesn't, he can play the "Well it's the Raiders, nothing is for sure" card for the millionth time.
And yes, last year it was Gholston FOR SURE, but maybe Sed Ellis, but only if Chris Long is gone, and then perhaps a trade down, but if that doesn't happen maybe a trade up, etc etc.
Here's a good article by Kirwan (of all people) on the the pre-draft smokescreens teams do...
