Alright Nation the schedule will be released on Tuesday and I think we should use this thread to discuss what we like and don't like about the Raiders schedule. Which games do you find most intriguing and which games will you be attending?

i think the openign nighter against SD is still gonna be the biggest of our season cause its gonna set the tone. IF we go out and get shell'd like last year then we can forget about any hope but if we go out and win or at the very least go out and play like a real football team with some heart and talent and GOOD COACHING on both sides of the ball then we have something to build on!!!

He can improve, can become a good player but it does NOT mean that he will. He could boom or bust like any player. I just judge him off his play in the BFL so far and it has not been good. He does not look like a QB out there. He is an athlete at the qb position right now. He SERIOUSLY needs to work on timing, accuracy, decision making. All the fundamentals. I'm not asking him to be Peyton. I just want to see some improvement. He was still throwing terrible passes and making horrible decisons at the end of last year. He doesn't seem to know where the ball should go and whne he does find single coverage his timing/accuracy will be off. He needs to work on all of that and gain moire chemistry with his WR's. Still, he should just be able to go out there and make good throws regardless. He is an NFL qb.

It's up to him to get better, I think the Raiders are truly attempting to make his surroundings better. He has a good vet qb by his side, Hackett as his coach, and the focus has been on the OL this offseason so far with Barnes and Satele.

Btw, I think Flacco and Quinn are terrible as well so far. I'm not hating on Russell.

One of the only reasons he did bettter was because Cable starting using McFadden as a quick outlet. There were still a ridiculous amount of 3 and outs. J. Miller started out the TB game with a great return and we still punted on that drive. How do you start at the 50 and punt?? Terrible...

Could not agree more. They are trying to surround him with teachers to improve his game. It is up to him to step it up.

I think the Pittsburg game will be real important, wherever it is, just to see if we are a legitimate team yet, and it will actually put our passing game to the test. If we somehow manage to run on them, then we have the number 1 run game at the time, and I won't complain. But chances are, thats the point where Russel is the only one under the spotlight.
Also the Chargers game is important as we have said. Looking forward to revenge against Baltimore as well. I'd like to pressure Flacco because the Ravens carry their team on Defense and Run game. I want to see how we do against the run

When you have no pressure on you as an nfl qb, 90+% of your passes should be right on the money. I remember in the TB game. I think it was our 1st series after Miller's big KR, 3rd and around 8. Russell has no one in his face, and waits a second or 2 and dumps it to the flat to McFadden and we get about 1 yard. Horrible play. That's just one instance off the top of my head. The backer was just waiting for McFadden. I could execute that play lol. Or another one where McFadden ran a wheel route up the sideline and had a step and Russell put too much air on it. Frustrating!!! :banghead:

In the Texan game he also hit McFadden perfectly down the sideline. He also ran out of the pocket and hit Miller on the run. In th TB game he stood in the pocket for as long as he could and hit Chaz. He also looked off a defender on the Higgins TD.

I'm not saying Russell is great, but he was very solid at the end and I hope he keeps improving. But we will win games with him playing like that. You can't expect a QB to hit every WR perfectly.

I agree w/everything you wrote about JRussell or but I am hoping that we can beat the Chargers this year. Yes they beat us over and over these last years but that doesn't mean it has to continue. I hope that JRussell can step up his game and bring us a W. I'm hoping the coaching staff and w/help from Garcia that he can step up his game. He did hold on to the ball way too long and hopefully he won't do that. I'm not trying to knock him or praise him. I'd love for the kid to get it together and look confident out there on the field. This will be the year that we can tell if that's ever going to happen or not. All I know is that if he's not pulling it off on that Monday Night game then they better pull him out. I'm not trying to come away from that game w/ a loss and say well he showed "some" improvement so maybe we can win our 2nd game. Hells no!!! I can see what you are saying and I'm not saying make Garcia our starter. I wasn't saying pull him out entirely. I'm just saying let's win some games and do what we got to do. Honestly I'm hoping that Russell makes a complete turn around this year. I hope between the coaching staff and Garcia that he can become a more confident player.

Only works during playoff time... LT will always be around to humiliate the raiders time and time again

The ability is there. You know it. We all saw the Raiders shut down L.T. for 3 quarters last year in the 1st game. With some good playcalling and some more disciplined LB play we CAN stop them. Although we can just as easily suck. But if we aren't aggressive they will walk all over us like usual. We haven't played a good defensive game in the opener in a long ass time. Denver last year, Detroit in 07, SD in 06, or NE in 05. This team better be prepared. Week 1 is not a friggin warm up game. Cable better drill that into their heads...

You do know that the Giants play in Meadowlands, NJ, not New York, right? It's right in the middle of nowhere, with a massive mall being built right next to it (but not open). not so close to Times Square, Females, &Liquor

Yay, the season opener is by far the most important game in the whole season IMHO.. We need to break that hidious streak they have on us and we need to make a statement for our players. We all love our Raiders, but truth of the matter is that nobody in the NFL respects us and they always look forward to playing us so they can get that quick win.. Why is everyone so down on Russell he is what he is. He is not Manning, Quin, Flacco or Ryan. Russell is a raw QB with a lot of upside with the correct coaching. I went thru the schedule, and noticed, that out of all the teams we play this season, non of them will be coming off a bye week. which is pretty cool!
every team we face, will had played a game the previous week :)

Be happy it could've been a whole lot worse, like facing the eagles and giants the first two weeks of the season. This is a pretty decent schedule, plus we have the bye week in the middle which is always better.

Me too Tru but when I look at the schedule I think an 8 - 8 season is probably the best we can hope for. The key game to a good season is our home opener in week 1 and yes I think we can beat the Broncos and Chiefs both times. Weeks 5, 6, 7 and 12, 13, 14 could kill any momentum we have and ruin another season but somehow I still like our chances, let's hope we can turn this around.

I'm in Marlboro so whenever i take the train to the bronx (I work in a lab up here on breaks) im always thinkin of how long it would take to get to Giants Stadium. Is Rahway north or south of Newark? woulda sworn it was south, and the train from Matawan to NYC takes about 1.5 hrs total. about 45 minutes to Newark, and another 45 from there. There might be a PATH train, I haven't seen it but I'll ask around on my way home on Thursday
