Hockey fan, eh? Didn't know!
I gotta go with my Sharks. If they can get healthy, they are a difficult team to beat. They are getting closer though. With Clowe, Grier, Lemieux back in the lineup, we will be much stronger along the boards and in the neutral zone. Health is the Sharks' biggest enemy right now. Marleau should be back soon, and I've already lost hope for Torrey Mitchell, but once we get healthy, we will be very dangerous.

Good choice CSA :roc:. The last few weeks have scared me though, that six game losing streak came at the worst time but I'm glad they pulled out of it. Looks like they're going to play either Pittsburgh or Montreal in the first round, if they play Montreal they'll have better chance to succeed IMO because Pittsburgh really tore them a new one last time out.

Yeah kyh0mpb hockey is my favorite sport If the Raiders were playing in the SB and game seven of the Cup was played on the same day I'd watch game seven. LOL. I'm a original six OG, the Leafs were my team back in the day. The Sharks piss me off, during the season they kick major azz but as soon as they hit the second round of the playoffs its curtains. They seem to have a much better team this season but they rely to much on offense and not defense. When the playoffs start its all about defense and goaltending. This is why I'm going with the Devils they play defense first then they attack and now they have some goal scorers. The Sharks play in a tough conference they must get past the Wings, Canucks, Flames and maybe the Ducks If they can make the playoffs.

Damn CSA you should come live here if you a Leafs fan. Personally I can't stand them and think they're a joke, especially the money-hungry ownership group and the fact that they're fielding a Junior Varsity team and still charging $100 for a nosebleed ticket.

I don't feel very confident anymore, last night's loss to the Maple Leafs clearly showed that the Devils aren't ready for the play-offs. Brodeur somehow lost his touch after he became the winningest(sp) goaltender in NHL history, he's giving up easy goals left and right and the special teams outright s*ck. They won't survive the first round when they face off against the Penguins.

Yea I feel you, I played hockey for 14 years of my life and I miss it like a motherfucker! The Sharks piss me off big time too. I feel like this year is different, but last night's game didn't help. The thing is once they started getting all these injuries they stopped scoring goals and focused more on D, but now they're getting healthy and can't score anymore. In the beginning they were averaging near 40 shots a game, but after the injuries the system changed and there really isn't enough time to ease back into it so we'll see. I think the West will be repped by the Sharks or Wings, I don't like the Ducks right now, and Chi-town has fallen off IMO. The Flames always scare me though. The West is rough right now, 8 teams that are playing solid hockey.

Last nights game pissed me off they had to go to a shoot out to beat the Avs! :csa:
The Leafs went into the first intermission with a three goal lead because of Devils indifference I guess, they lack fire and they're to slow to react. The Devils defense isn't going to hold up when the Penguins come to town (if they win the Atlantic that is :stir:).
Holik and White turned over the puck right in front of their own goal and Brodeur never had a chance. The Leafs went 2 - 0 up just a minute or so later because of sloppy defense, Hamilton was able to shoot the puck with three Devils around him doing nothing. The Leafs went 3 - 0 up when Oduya didn't watch his back when Hanson came around to score. Gerber was lights out he blocked every Devils shot and the Devils never got back into the game, they did score a PPG in the second but the Leafs scored a fourth time in the third because Mottau and Oduya weren't aggressive enough.

Yea man, they are playing disjointed hockey right now and it's scary. At first, the playoffs couldn't come soon enough...now I wish they were another couple weeks away, so the Sharks could get used to each other again. The Flames always present big problems for us, I was praying we wouldn't face them in the first round last year, and lo and behold...we go 7 games with those bastards. We'll see, though. Great Game by the Devils last night, they beat the Hurricanes 4 - 1, Carolina never got a chance because of good penalty killing and an aggressive posture from the entire team. This was a total effort by the Devils and I hope that they can build on this game.

The Devils got an enormous boost by defeating the Hurricanes in overtime in game 3 of their first round play-off battle. The Devils won their first play-off game in Raleigh (NC) dating back to 2001 and their first play off over time win in six chances. By doing this they regained their home ice advantage no matter what the result in game 4 Tuesday evening. Parise remained hot, he scored for the third time in three games and got an assist as well, Gionta had a great game the entire game and scored the go ahead goal at the end of the first period after a Carolina turnover. Zajac scored the game winner in over time for his first goal since March 17.

Why to go Devils! Now about those Sharks, they have never understood playoff Hockey. Playoff Hockey is all about Goaltending and defense not offense. The Sharks never make that game saving save or score that one needed goal. The Sharks need more muckers and grinders and need to play better defense.

I hope management sits down and figures out that they need muckers and grinders in the playoffs along with good goaltending. Super stars don't mean :shit: in the playoffs because all teams play defense first, offense when you get the chance.

We are gonna see some big changes, that's for sure. To me, the biggest difference in the series was goaltending. Hiller played like he wants the Playoff MVP trophy, Nabokov played like a goalie who is past his prime. I'm pretty sure the Sharks averaged about 40 shots per game, the Ducks in the high 20's. Their defense wasn't that bad, though, and their offense generated quality chances, so it has to come down to goaltending.
This offseason is going to be rough for Sharks fans. Say goodbye to guys like Marleau, Cheechoo, Nabokov, maybe even some others like Thornton and Michalek. Not to mention Roenick and Blake probably retiring.

Hockey players really don't get the respect they deserve...I'd say it's the 2nd most physically grueling sport (after football), maybe even more so. Yet they get paid chump change compared to the rest of the sports. The BEST players in the NHL make 7 mil a year; that's like the MLE in Basketball. I don't understand it, but I guess the majority of Americans don't like hockey, so they'll never get paid what they deserve (in objective terms, TBH I think all athletes are overpaid).

Word.
I played an entire season with a fractured collarbone. It ended up healing itself, but the bone sticks up a little bit, you can tell where it was broken.
I dislocated my knee and stretched several ligaments during a state championship game when the blade of a guy's stick got caught in my skate, and when I hit the ice I smacked my knee against it and popped it back in; the ref was right next to me, and blew the whistle before I even hit the ice because he heard me yell. I had to sit out that game cuz I couldn't even put pressure on it, but I played the rest of the tournament.
I nearly broke my neck getting pushed into the boards, blacked out, laid on the bench for about 10 minutes, then went out and kept playing. That whole week I had to get off PE at school, because I was unable to jump (something about my nerve endings).
During a tournament, I got hit in the ankle with an 80 mph slapshot, sat on the bench for a period, and then played the rest of the game. I was given MVP of the game by my coach just for playing through it; him and my dad had to pull as hard as they could just to get my skate off after the game. This is the only time I ever went to the doctor after one of my injuries, too; turns out I had a "deep bone bruise," and the doctor said if the puck had hit me a quarter of an inch lower it might have shattered my ankle, even in my hockey skate. That was also the only time I've ever missed an entire game due to injury, since I couldn't play in the next game. Luckily it was before Christmas, so I had a couple weeks off to heal before the next game.
I got so many injuries playing hockey, and my body is probably gonna be pretty jacked up when I'm older, and I'm only 20; my right knee still clicks sometimes from dislocating it and never going to the doctor lol. But it was all worth it when we won.
And I wasn't even getting paid, like the rest of these dudes!

Wings win game two 3-1 game three is in Pittsburgh tomorrow night. The Pens need to win this game If they have any plans on winning the Cup. The Wings just have to many weapons for the Pens at the moment.

Pens win game four the series is tied at two games each. Game five is Saturday in Detroit. Has anyone noticed that when the games are in Detriot they are shown on NBC but when they play in Pittsburgh they are on Versus. What's up with that.

Stanley Cup Playoffs > NBA Playoffs. Easily. First 7 minutes nonstop action without a whistle. This is the first game I've been able to watch and now I'm pissed I missed the first 3. Let's go Penguins!

I fuckin HATE the Red Wings. But shit are they ever tough at home, once they get a lead it's damn near impossible to beat them.

^^I agree Buck the Pens have to win the next two games and If game seven is in Detroit the Pens will damn near need a shutout to win.

I love watching the Redwings play. I think Pens probably take game six, sending the series back to DET for game seven. Detroit is a dynasty.. They force the other team to make mistakes, they don't beat themselves..
PLUS, HOCKEYTOWN is a rocking joint; I visited that spot when I was in the D last year for a family reunion.

As much as I hate them, the Red Wings play hockey like it's supposed to be played. There's only one team in the NHL that had a shot at beating them, and that's because they had one of their assistant coaches coaching them...who knew they'd decide to take a shit in the playoffs again.

^Which more or less equate to the same thing.
The Sharks probably have the best combination of size and speed in the NHL, maybe one of the best ever. They just don't have what it takes between the ears. Maybe this year instead of running out of gas and accruing tons of injuries at the end of the season, they can try to sprint at the end rather than the beginning.

Didn't think the Pens would make it a 7 game series, but they've played well at home.
I'm hoping game 7 is a CLASSIC. Someone should slap Bettman in the face for scheduling all these damn games the same nights as the NBA Finals. This series has been amazing, great for hockey, but a lot of people didn't watch because of the NBA Finals I'm sure. Thankfully game 7 is Friday. Hopefully it's an awesome game and the Penguins take it, but I still really don't see it happening in Hockey Town. I'm hoping for it though!

I agree about the scheduling I've been taping the NBA and watching the NHL live. I don't want a blow out in game seven, I'd like to see a three overtime 1-0 game.
