Although Al Davis has never traded down, he's never made such smart moves in an off-season like this in a long time. He's kept team consistency (Tom Cable) over another over-haul of different coaches and opinions, also focusing on re-signing his players over dishing out big bucks to free agents.

Trading down would make a lot more sense than staying at #7. It we could trade down with the Eagles (they have 2 1st rd picks #21 & #28) we could get 2 starters for our defense. We don't need to try and pay another top ten pick. This sh!t is killing our cap space.

It takes 2 to tango and you need to find a willing trade partner. Philly seems like a great option but they've traded out of the 1st round the past 2 years, it's not their style to trade up.
Top 10 picks (mainly the top 5 picks) have become virtually untradeable because teams do not want to give up valuable picks and/or players then have to pay these ridiculous contracts handed out to lottery picks.

I agree Buck and this is why I'm not drinking the Al has changed Kool aide. Until the Raiders hire a Director of Football Operations and a qualified NFL General Manager I don't see things changing for the better. This team has a lot of holes and it will take a few seasons to get up to par. Our division is weak but so are we we must improve our defense first If we have any plans on improving in 2009.

What did you guys think
I'm assuming you mean Al has never traded back in round one.
I'd like to trade down with Philly and pick up
1a) Larry English DE NIU
1b) Alex Mack - C Cal
2) William Moore - S Mizzou
3) Louis Murphy - WR Florida
4) Best OT/DT
Then next year we can draft OT and DT within the first three rounds and really get this rebuilding going forward.

I'm not so high on Britt.
Crabtree, Maclin, DHB, and Nicks will probably all go in the 1st.
Robiskie could be there when we pick. Im hoping Nicks is cause he's my fav. Wr in this draft although Crabtree is the better talented receiver.

I'd be willing to part with that #7 overall for a young proven player.
Just dreaming, but someone like an Anquan Boldin maybe? Straight up would be nice, or even offering them someone like Huff or Fargas. Maybe even a swap of 1st rounders and 2nd rounders.
